Originally developed for urology, extracorporeal shock waves were first used in 1990 to treat bone tissue. In 1997, the Swiss DolorClast method was established as the new standard in extracorporeal shock wave therapy. In the following years, more and more orthopedic indications were successfully treated with this method.
The Swiss DolorClast method is based on a completely new concept for treating indications in the musculoskeletal system. The Swiss DolorClast device produces radial shock waves. A projectile in the handpiece is accelerated to a high speed by a precisely controlled pressure pulse and guided with a tolerance of just a few micrometers. As soon as the projectile hits the applicator in the handpiece, its kinetic energy is converted into mechanical energy. This energy is transferred through the applicator. At the end of the applicator, the shock wave comes into contact with human tissue. In order to keep losses during transmission (which can occur in the air between the applicator and the skin surface) as low as possible, contact gel is used to couple the shock waves into the tissue.
In everyday life, chronic pain costs valuable energy, takes away joy in life, and reduces quality of life - heel pain, for example, makes every step in everyday life a torment.
When it comes to sports, chronic pain often means that you can only do your usual activities, such as jogging, walking or playing golf, to a limited extent. Tennis elbow, for example, means you have to give up your favorite game.
At work, chronic pain impairs physical performance - stabbing shoulder pain also ties up mental and intellectual strength even with the slightest arm movement.
Successful use at the Olympic Games, with the Swiss national ski team, at ATP tennis tournaments and in European football leagues.
Advantage: No drug-related stress on the organism, no risk of violations of doping regulations in acute pain therapy and noticeable improvement in health and fitness.
